WHAT IS SAMENTO?
Samento is a powerful medicinal plant that was approved as a medicine in Ecuador in 2004. Although it is not a drug (it is a natural plant extract) Ecuadorian Government officials have allowed 3 drug claims to be used:

- ANTIMICROBIAL
- ANTI-INFLAMMATORY

Some of the beneficial properties of Samento are attributed to the pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids (POAs) that are found in the plant that act on the cellular immune system and demonstrate powerful immune system modulating properties. Samento does not contain the tetracyclic oxindole alkaloids (TOAs) that are found in traditional Cat's Claw. TOAs disrupt central nervous system function and greatly inhibit the effects of the POAs.
Some researchers believe that Samento may be as much as 1000 times more effective than Cat’s Claw. One of the most important differences between Samento and Cat’s Claw is that Cat’s Claw is an immune system stimulant and Samento is an immune system modulator. Therefore, Samento is said to be able to be used to help autoimmune disorders; whereas this is not the case with Cat’s Claw.

Dosage Suggestions
Samento comes as a concentrated liquid extract, giving on average, 2 months of usage. Please start cautiously with this product. Because it is claimed to be aggressive against viruses, AND bacteria AND candida / fungus some individuals have claimed that it precipitated strong die-off reactions. So here are our suggested dosage guidelines, which is more detailed than the guidelines on the label.
1st day: one drop
2nd day: one drop morning, one drop evening.
3rd day: two drops morning, two drops evening
4 th day and thereafter : Continue until you reach 15 drops twice per day and then stay at that level. This dosage is sufficient for most people.
Some individuals have found they benefited from taking much higher dosages - up to 30 drops twice a day, and you are inclined to do this, please build up to this dosage gradually as per the guidelines above.
The minimum recommended period before evaluating this product is 2-3 months. If you feel lousy at any point drop the dosage to whatever dosage stops you feeling lousy. In extreme cases, even one drop is too much. You can reduce to 1/2 or 1/4 drop per day by putting one drop in a little water, and drinking taking 1/2 or 1/4 of it one day, and the other half or 1/4 the next day.
Problems with the alcohol base in Samento
Occasionally we have had customers who claim they cannot tolerate even one drop of alcohol (the product is in a base of ethanol). This may or may not be genuinely true. Nonetheless if necessary you can deplete the alcohol from the extract by using water that does not exceed 105 degrees F. Mix the drops with warm water, let sit for at least 10 minutes and most of the alcohol will be depleted. As long as the water does not exceed 105 degrees F the action of the extract will not be affected.
