The body uses the amino acid tyrosine and the mineral iodine to make thyroid hormones, which are essential for heat, energy and many physical and mental functions. This formula provides tyrosine and 11 vitamins and minerals involved in making thyroid hormones efficiently. Incidentally, tyrosine is also involved in the production of some adrenal hormones. So deficiency of tyrosine will afffect both glands. Moroeoever, as these two glands work together to regulate metabolism, deficiency of tyrosine may affect both organs.

Interesting. We noticed this product is identical to Drive - another product made by the same manufacturer (Higher Nature) except that Thyroid Support Formula contains kelp, a herb well known for helping the thyroid. For your interest, Drive is described by the manufactuers as such:-

"Drive! provides optimum nutrition for energy and enthusiasm throughout the day, by supplying the amino acid tyrosine, plus co-factors, for making the brain’s natural neurotransmitters, dopamine and noradrenalin, associated with happiness and motivation. Drive! also helps maintain a healthy rate of metabolism." It's not especially suprising that Drive is being marketed as a supplement for energy and enthusiasm given that the thyroid gland and adrenal glands pertains to our level of energy. Conversely, chronic fataigue is a common symptom of an underactive thyroid and adrenal exhaustion.

Not advisable if pregnant or in cases of melanoma, schizophrenia, high blood pressure or if taking MAO inhibitors.
