Transdermal (hyperthermic) Ozone therapy

Transdermal Ozone also known as hyperthermic ozone and transcutaneous ozone therapy is the main method of Oxygen therapy used at the Finchley Clinic. Transdermal ozone is a method in which ozone is introduced into the body via the skin while sitting in a hot steam cabinet.
As the pores of the skin open as a result of being surrounded by the warm steam, ozone enters the body transdermally (i.e. via the skin). The ozone then penetrates the blood, lymph and fat. This method is not new: Dr. Kellogg first used ozone in steam saunas at his naturopathic clinic in Battle Creek, Michigan as far back as 1881. The German army used transdermal ozone, without the use of steam baths, for wound healing on the battlefields of World War I.
As the pores of the skin open, the ozone enters the body through the skin.
Transdermal ozone also has a very relaxing effect. This is partly because heat has a naturally relaxing effect and perhaps partly because the ozone also seems to produce overall calm.
This method is also useful for skin complaints and improving the tone of the skin generally.
Steam therapy also assists in weight loss. During a 20-40 minute session in the steam cabinet the body burns up to 250-500 calories. More importantly as toxins are stored in the body's fat reserves, when the body is de-toxified the body no longer requires extraneous fat and so you are more likely to stay slim.

Effectiveness of transdermal ozone
According to the most recent research, transdermal or hyperthermic ozone therapy has been proven to have a powerful oxygenating effect on the body. The paper "Quasi-total body exposure to Oxygen/Ozone in a sauna cabinet" was published by Professor Bocci of the University of Sienna in 1999. The paper concluded that hyperthermic ozone induced a "statistically significant, rapid increase of venous pO2 (partial pressure of Oxygen)".
Other Methods of Ozone
These methods, used if and when necessary include:
Ear insufflation is occasionally used for ear nose and throat problems, the sinuses etc e.g. ear infections, head colds, headaches, sinusitis. It involves placing an ear piece into the ear which directs ozone into the area for a couple of minutes.
Rectal insufflation
We don't use this method very often. Rectal insufflation of ozone is mostly used for eradicating candida and intestinal dysbiosis (along with Colosan or Oxy-Powder, and all the other anti candida products we provide). It involves introducing ozone very slowly into the colon for anything from a couple of minutes to about 20 minutes
