Colostrum bovinum contains immunoglobulins G which protect the body from infection.

What is Colostrum?

Colostrum is the pre-milk liquid that mothers produce at birth and the first few days of life. It is full of immune-enhancing antibodies, other important immune factors, and essential growth factors to ensure health and vitality for adults and children. Our decision to stock colostrum was made as a result one our candida customers telling us how it had cured her irritable bowel, bloating and wind. Her exact words were "I couldn't believe it".  But because there is so much more to say, we have now given colostrum it's own separate information page found here

What can Colostrum help with?

Colostrum is one of those products which can potentially help a very wide range of problems. Three of the most most common areas it may help concern : -

1) Supporting the immune system
2) Any type of inflammatory problem (e.g. athritis, hayfever etc)
3) Digestive health and reducing gut inflammation (e.g. leaky gut, gastritis, intestinal candida, food allergies)
4) Chronic fatigue

More Information

Is the uneven fight against infections your everyday life? It's time to take care of it comprehensively, strengthening the body's immunityColostrum and zinc are your protective shield, helping you improve the functioning of the immune system so you can say goodbye to all too common diseases.

Colostrum is a nutritional, natural substance that is produced by female mammals in the mammary glands in late pregnancy and immediately after giving birth. This fluid is responsible for stimulating the immune system and is designed to protect the newborn from pathogenic microorganisms. Colostrum – has a number of positive properties for the human body [1]. Immunoglobulins found in milk and colostrum are an important component of immune activity. Bovine colostrum contains immunoglobulin G that protects the body from infection. This substance contributes to enhancing the immune response in humans [2] and can prevent the development of infections, as well as support their fight [1]. It has also been proven that it has a repairing effect on muscles and cartilagessupports wound healing and promotes the regeneration of structural body cells– e.g. intestines[1]. Research suggests that taking colostrum may also reduce the risk of traveller's diarrhoea[3]. The potential of colostrum is encouraging and the benefits of supplementation are also reflected in the quality of training. Bovine colostrum can affect body composition. It has been shown that taking colostrum contributes to an increase in lean body mass in physically active people [4]Colostrum also increases peak anaerobic power during training[5] and improves regeneration – and this can translate into increased efficiency[6].  It has no less beneficial properties than zinc. It helps in proper functioning of the immune system, protects cells from oxidative stress, contributes to the maintenance of proper metabolism of macronutrients, and supports the maintenance of healthy bones, skin and nails.

Manufacturers Suggested Usage

Suggested Label Dosage: 2 capsules taken with food or away from food - providing 1000 mg of colostrum, including 300 mg of immunoglobulin G.

Our Own Suggested Usage

I'm Mark Lester, the "boss" of The Finchley Clinic. I used to recommend people to try the suggested label dosage for at least a month. And many people seem to benefit from doing exactly that. But after a discussion with one of my own mentors, who I believe is one of the finest nutritionists in the UK, I am recommending people to try a far higher amount if necessary. His exact words were "I don’t think anyone has given colostrum a fair crack of the whip until they have tried twelve capsules daily for at least a month". I know this gets pricey, so I will let you think about this one, and decide for yourself whether or not to really "go" for it if the standard dosage isn't benefiting you. I doubt whether anyone needs to stay on this dosage indefinitely, but it may be useful for a few months
