Green Barley has been a staple food of human populations since at least 7,000 B.C. and in Japan the young grass is one of several traditional green foods that are considered to be energising and anti-ageing. It is a good natural alkaliser, and may also aid digestion and detoxification.
The majority of the past scientific research into the benefits of Green Barley Grass was led by the late Dr Yoshihide Hagiwara, who began his career in pharmaceutical medicine until his working environment caused his health to suffer and he became seriously ill with toxic mercury poisoning at the age of just 38. This forced him to give up his work and his pharmaceutical company – and led him to the use of herbs and later, to green foods, in order to detoxify his body and restore his health. He made a complete recovery through the use of natural medicines and foods, and in particular green barley juice –prompting him to form his own green food company and spend the rest of his long life researching green foods. Dr Hagiwara concluded, after researching more than 150 green foods- that young green barley leaves were “one of the most nutritionally balanced foods in nature” and “the ideal fast food for the human race.”
Many of the nutrients in Green Barley are destroyed by heat or acidity, so he developed a unique extraction and spray-dry process that earned him Japan's prestigious Science and Technology Award. These patented manufacture methods are still used to produce Green Magma today. Green Barley contains over 70 nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes – in particular Super Oxide Dismutase (S.O.D.) – a powerful free radical scavenger, and a unique form of vitamin E called α-tocepherol succinate that has been shown to stimulate the release of prolactin and growth hormone and has been shown to inhibit cancerous tumor growth ten times more effectively than other forms of vitamin E. In addition – Green Barley provides high levels of Chlorophyll and important antioxidant substances called flavonoids. Of particular interest to researchers is the flavonoid 2’’ -0- GIV - shown in research to be a more potent antioxidant than vitamin E. This novel flavonoid may have possible inhibitory properties against arteriosclerosis. Regular users of Green Magma supplements report increased energy, better digestion and improvements in hair, skin and nail quality – but this remarkable food has also been shown to reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol and detoxify the body of many of the toxic chemicals that we are exposed to in the modern world. These include pesticides, food additives, toxic metals, and even acetaldehyde, the toxic by-product produced in our bodies following alcohol consumption. It is acetaldehyde that causes hangovers – and more significantly it is thought to play a role in the liver damage that can be the result of alcohol consumption.
"I never trusted supplements, did not believe in their miraculous action. For three years I had anemia. Tablets not helped solve my problem, basically I was in a very bad shape, my hair was falling off, were very dry and dull. One day I saw the information on the internet about the wonderful Green Barley Juice Extract, and that was it! After four weeks, I felt much better, my hair grow faster, thicker and most importantly I do not have anemia! This product is wonderful, I drink it every morning with freshly squeezed juice, tastes good but the most important is that it really works!"
Because of its alkaline qualities, Green Magma can play a useful role in maintaining the acid/alkaline balance in the human body - it is therefore highly suitable for use as a basic “Green food” – and can be added to almost any supplement program.
The Barley Grass used in Green Magma is grown in some of the world's most fertile soil in Japan. It is grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers and is fully certified as Organic.
There are no known contraindications or interactions with Green Magma - however those intolerant to barley or coeliacs should be cautious upon first using any Green Barley supplement. Although Green Magma is made from the young leaves of Green Barley Grass - not the head which contains gluten - we would still recommend caution to coeliacs.
Green Magma can be a useful aid to detoxification. However - some individuals may experience some tiredness upon first using it - and individuals who suspect they may have a high level of toxins in their body should start with low doses and build up very gradually to minimise any symptoms of detoxification.
Mix 1 teaspoon of Green Magma powder into a glass (approx. 160ml) of water or non-acidic fruit juice 1-2 times per day. Drink 20 minutes before or 2 hours after a meal for best absorption. Do not mix with hot drinks as heat can damage the active enzymes in Green Magma.
