Maca is a Peruvian herb (also regarded as a root vegetable) which has been traditionally used for the following purposes : -

Maca is also a source of two alkaloids (Lepidiline A and B), plant sterols (ß-sitosterol, campesterol and stigmasterol) and some other important actives.
