Optimising Body Hydration with Supplements

In my previous article on hydrating the body, I missed a few key points which I am going to address here. Since then a customer contacted me regarding Crystal Energy, who kindly then uploaded what she said as a review describing it as "an amazing product which makes water feel "wetter". I'm not a fan of drinking water actually but I find I drink water with the drops added very quickly. The results are I feel a lot less tired than I used to, and my brain has clarity. I take a flask of water with the drops added to work and it really works. Usually by mid afternoon I'd be craving a coffee, but this water keeps me in much better shape to get through the day.".

These are anecdotal reports, but there are quite a lot of them, and there is a positive pattern. You can read the others on the web site.

Regarding the dedicated electrolyte products from UltraLyte, you can buy electrolytes in the pharmacy, they are usually full of artificial sweeteners and other junk and also don't contain a full range of trace minerals. The Ultralyte products are "full spectrum" and don't have any artificial junk in them.

MegaHydrate  / Crystal Energy vs Electrolytes for body hydration. Let's take them one at a time

How Electrolytes Hydrate the Body

Electrolytes (like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium) are charged minerals your body needs for many essential functions — including hydration.

What Electrolytes Do:

  • Regulate fluid balance between cells and blood.

  • Control osmosis, which is how water moves in and out of cells.

  • Maintain nerve and muscle function (including your heart).

  • Without electrolytes, your body can’t hold onto water properly — in an extreme situation, drinking plain water alone may actually dilute them and worsen dehydration!

How Crystal Energy™ and MegaHydrate® Hydrate the Body

These are hydration enhancers that work by improving water's physical properties and how easily it penetrates cells. They're not adding minerals in the traditional sense — instead, they change how efficiently water works in your body.

Crystal Energy™:

  • Contains silica-based microclusters (very tiny, charged mineral spheres).

  • Reduces the surface tension of water — making it "wetter" and more absorbable.

  • Helps water enter cells more easily, improving nutrient transport and waste removal.

  • Mimics the characteristics of glacial Hunza water (linked to longevity and superior hydration).

  • Does not provide significant minerals or electrolytes.

MegaHydrate®:

  • Builds on Crystal Energy™ by adding >negative hydrogen ions (H⁻) — powerful antioxidants.

  • Also uses silica microclusters to reduce surface tension and increase absorption.

  • Helps create an environment where cells are more receptive to water and better protected from oxidative stress.

  • Supports ATP production, which is the energy process that uses water inside the cell.

  • Like Crystal Energy™, it’s not about adding salts or balancing electrolytes, but optimizing water at the cellular level.

Key Differences: Crystal Energy/MegaHydrate® vs Electrolytes

Feature Crystal Energy™ / MegaHydrate® Electrolytes
Main function Improves cellular water absorption Maintains fluid and mineral balance
Works by Reducing surface tension, altering water structure Driving osmosis, balancing ion gradients
Adds minerals? No (except trace silica/magnesium in MegaHydrate®) Yes (sodium, potassium, magnesium, etc.)
Antioxidant effects? Yes (but stronger in MegaHydrate®) No
Energy support? Supports ATP production via hydrogen ions Supports nerve / muscle energy, but not antioxidant activity
When to use Daily hydration, anti-aging, cellular detox After sweating, workouts, illness, low-carb diets

Can They Be Used Together?

Yes — and I think they complement each other well. In summary...

  • Electrolytes are essential when you've lost fluids through sweating, diarrhoea, or heat.

  • Crystal Energy™ and MegaHydrate® help the water you drink get absorbed better and support deeper cellular hydration and energy.

  • Using both may help you retain fluids, absorb nutrients, and detox more efficiently.

Think of it this way: Electrolytes manage where the water goes. MegaHydrate® and Crystal Energy™ make the water work better once it gets there.

I think I have made the hydration issue clear and hope you agree. You're welcome.

PS. You also get electrolytes (though less concentrated) if you are taking Oxygen Elements Max or Oxylift from the 77 trace minerals they contain - but I am going to save that discussion to another day.

Because dry cells are sad cells.
