5HTP is a natural amino acid found in the body. 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is an amino acid that is the intermediate step between tryptophan and the important brain chemical serotonin. Low serotonin levels are associated with depression and poor sleep quality.
Serotone also contains specific co-factor B vitamins and zinc. Not advisable if pregnant or taking fenfluramine. Care should also be taken if being prescribed SSRIs. Does not contain Valerian.

Update: On 3rd April 2011, the company director attended a lecture with renowned nutritionist Patrick Holford, who said that he often gave 300mg to be his patients.
