What is 5-Hydroxytryptophan?

5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP or 5HTP) is an amino acid that is the intermediate step between tryptophan and the important brain chemical serotonin. Low serotonin levels are associated with depression and poor sleep quality. Serotone contains 5-HTP alone with specific co-factor B vitamins and zinc which assist with it's absorption. Not advisable if pregnant or taking fenfluramine. Care should also be taken if being prescribed SSRIs. Does not contain Valerian.

Who is this for?

As a precursor to feel-good neurotransmitters, Serotone can be taken to support normal psychological function. It is also involved mental health and is best taken at the end of the day to support a restful night. 

What's in it?

One capsule typically provides: 100mg 5HTP, 10mg Vitamin B6, 5mg Zinc citrate, 50µg Biotin, 100µg Folic acid, 30mg Niacin.

Note: 5-HTP has been derived naturally from the Griffonia simplicifolia seed

Take 1 capsule at the end of the day with a carbohydrate snack * See note below

** On 3rd April 2011, the company director attended a lecture with renowned nutritionist Patrick Holford, who said that he often gave 300mg to be his patients. He said he used 100mg initially for depression and insomnia, and increased it up to 300mg where needed. We recommend customers to consider trying this for themselves

Cautions

Consult your doctor if under medical supervision or taking prescribed medications. Not advisible if pregnant or if taking anti-depressant medication. Can cause drowsiness; do not drive or operate machinery if affected. If gastro-intestinal discomfort occurs, reduce intake.
