Is taking Vitamin C beneficial?

Vitamin C has become so well known since the publication of the book "Vitamin C and the Common Cold" by Linus Pauling in the early 70's, and countless books since then, such as the 500 page, fully referenced "Vitamin C and Infecticious Diseases" by Thomas E. Levy, M.D., J.D. that it seems pretty amazing that there is even a debate about the remarkable health benefits of this critical detoxifying, antioxidant, anti aging, collagen building, immune building, anti viral, and general infection fighting vitamin. Countless papers have been published demonstrating the health benefits and safety of supplementing ones diet with Vitamin C. Even though they have totally lost this argument, some people are still arguing over whether Vitamin C supplementation enhances health, and frankly, we think it's ridiculous. It really is time that that nutrition 'sceptics' engage in a more intelligent debate than arguing over the benefits of Vitamin C.

The body does not produce or store Vitamin C. The government RDA (reccomended daily allowance) for Vitamin C is a mere 60mg per day but this figure is based on what has been observed to be sufficient to prevent scurvy. This is a diseases caused by such grossly deficient levels of Vitamin C in the body that the tissues start to break down, until death ocurrs. However, the RDA is not based on what most nutritionists regard as optimal amounts for health and well being, which most practitioners beleive are far in excess of 60mg

Problems with most Vitamin C products

We also beleive that not all Vitamin C supplements are the same. Although you can buy Vitamin C anywhere these days, there are potential problems with most of the brands you can buy in health food shops

  1. They are nearly always sourced from corn, which is frequently allergenic (according to my mentor 65% of the population are intolerant of corn). The energy signature of the corn or perhaps remnants of the corn itself remain in the corn based products, and they can often test badly according to the technique known as kiniesiology.
  2. They usually contain citrus bioflavanoids to 'improve' the absorbtion (though admittedly this is gradually going out of fashion in the industry). And once again, a large proportion of people are allergic to the citrus element, making its inclusion counter productive for those individuals. According to our supplier, the quantities added are usually insufficient to assist the vitamin C absorbtion but are sufficient to trigger intolerance. So it's a lose-lose scenario.

Why Tapioca Vitamin C is special

Our Ultra Pure Vitamin C consists of 1000mg of 99.9% Vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid in with no unecessary funny stuff in it. It is the only one on the market which we are aware of which is sourced from tapioca (from cassava root) instead of corn, which almost nobody is allergic to. It is therefore hypoallergenic.  As well as being better tolerated, we also find our Vitamin C to be more effective generally. Try it, and see the difference.

Contents

90 Veggie caps. Veggie capsules made from cellulose.

Contrainidications.

  1. People with high stomach acid (e.g. ulcers etc) should not take Vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid. Click here if you are one of those people and select one of the low-acid Vitamin C products which we provide.
  2. Vitamin C occasionally causes gas if taken in high dosages.

What form of Vitamin C?

We were recently asked whether this was the L or D form of Vitamin C. We checked with the supplier and this is what they said.

Our vitamin C is 100% L-ascorbic acid.  D-ascorbic acid does not exist in nature and most modern chemists hold that it is a theoretical entity that cannot even be synthesised, while others claim it can be synthesised but is devoid of vitamin C activity.

Aerobic Oxygen vs Aerobic O7 for combating candida and increasing energy
Posted on Friday December 09, 2016

Did you know that candida, fungi, and bacteria are killed by singlet oxygen? Aerobic Oxygen and the rival brand Aerobic 07 are both liquid oxygen products composed of sodium chlorite as their main ingredient. That’s sodium chlorite, not sodium chloride (which is table salt). The chemical formula for this is NaClO2, and the “O2” bit […]

Ease your digestion: tips to avoid acid reflux
Posted on Wednesday November 23, 2016

In some cultures, belching during or after consuming food is perfectly acceptable; a sign that you’ve enjoyed and are satisfied by a meal. The truth is that everybody’s liable to belch at some time or another, not least after eating. However, excessive belching isn’t good; not only isn’t it particularly endearing, socially speaking, but also […]

Shake off that wintry sluggishness through good diet, rest, exercise and probiotics
Posted on Monday November 21, 2016

Let’s face it; it’s not unusual this time of year to feel a little lacking in energy; a wee bit done in; rather sluggish. But is it normal? Should you shrug your shoulders and put up with it? Scientifically speaking, there’s no reason why you should accept having less energy at one time of the […]

Foresight for your eyesight: nutrition and supplement ideas for eye health
Posted on Thursday November 17, 2016

It may come as no surprise to you, but research suggests sight is the sense we’re afraid of losing most. For many of us, the idea of only being able to connect with the world through speech, hearing, touch, smell and taste is a fearful one indeed – and for very good reason. Perhaps preventing […]
