What is The Best Before End Date of Products from Global Healing

Mark Lester  - Company Director

Sorry if the following is a bit long winded, but you asked, so here is the answer:

First of all please note the dates on food supplements are Best Before End Dates  - not “expiry dates”. An “expiry date” is a date by which a product must be sold and consumed for the safety of the consumer. Fresh fish for example. Where is comes to food supplements and stable foodstuffs, the correct term if “Best Before End” expressed by end of month and year. Under the most pathetic and stupid of inept waste of time EU regulations, which doubtless we will continue to abide by even though we have left this useless and scleroric organisation, even salt has to have Best Before End date, even though salt is (amongst other things) a preservative, and mined rock salt has been in the rocks for millions of years, and keeps indefinitely. Salt cannot "go off" but the 'geniuses' from the EU and our own regulatory bodies seem to think otherwise.

The Best Before End (BBE) dates that are found in most supplements we sell, including most of those from Global Healing are usually pretty meaningless, bearing little relationship to reality. Take Oxy-Powder for example. Oxy-Powder is a product designed to emulate the product Homozon, which we used to sell in our early days, which was the “original” magnesium based oxygen colon cleanser, first produced in 1898. More recently the patent was owned by the late Dr George Freibott, who was both a doctor and naturopath, and the world expert on oxidative chemistry and the products which assisted with this in the body. I knew him personally, and spent time in his house at one point. He told me when  first began selling Homozon that the product deteriorated by 1% per year. Therefore a bottle that was 25 years old, would still be 75% effective. There is no reason why Oxy-Powder which works on the same principles as Homozon would be any different in reality, not matter what the BBE is on the bottle. We would love to tell you that you should replace "expired" supplements, as we can make more money by encouraging you to waste your money purchasing "fresh" products that you do not need. However, fools that we are, we are pretty ethical, and will not guide you into wasting your money for the sake of it, when in the overwhelming majority of the time, this is not necessary, except with probiotics.

The next point we want to make is that GH products sell very fast, and we rarely have any of their products lying around in our warehouse for more than about 90 days, so all stock has a nice long date on it, and calling us up to ask us what it is or to say you can’t find it on the bottle really isn’t necessary. Most of the time it will be about two years. Occasionally it may be 18 months. It will rarely be less than that, and as we said above, its usually meaningless anyhow. Nonetheless, you are completely entitled to pose the question even if its a pointless one 99% of the time, and you won't be the first or last, so here is the answer:

Global Healing, despite countless complaints from us, insist on making it as hard as possible for customers to find and understand the Best Before End dates for their products. It’s a pity that a company making such good products refuse to deal more effectively, and it’s as frustrating for you as it is for us. These dates are found etched either on the base of the bottle (with the larger products), or on the side of the bottle just below the neck. No matter where they are etched onto the glass, its so small and so hard to make out that you made need to look very carefully to find it. You may even need a magnifying glass. If you think this is absurd, we agree with you, but you’ll get there eventually. In most cases there is no sticker – just an etching into the glass.

Once you’ve found this, the Best before date will be in the following order: Month, Day, Year and Batch number. So it will say something like 12/30/20/XXXX  - meaning the Best Before End date is the 30th December 2020, with Batch number XXXX. In the EU, the day is not required, as the BBE is simply the end of (month) and year, but Global Healing put the specific date on anyway, presumably to comply with the regulations in the USA where it is produced.

Good Luck With Finding it!
