Introducing our biggest update in over 20 years! Our current web site was born in 1998, originally as a therapy web site with a single web page discussing one product we had begiun selling. It was pretty awful in those days, and I dont have any screen shots from its very first incarnation. 

By 2001, I was selling two products, and I had the page below created for me. This is how it looked and bear in mind the internet was still in its infancy at that time!

In those days you couldn’t purchase by card, and the web site was to put it politely, basic. If you wanted to place an order, you had to send me a cheque in my personal name, as The Finchley Clinic did not yet exist as a limited company, then wait for it to be banked, and then me or my assistant at the time took it to the nearest post office, and off it went. 

Anyway this is how we looked in 2003 (still no online payment availble, but at least we were taking telephone payments by then). The screen shot isn’t perfect, and as some of the images are missing, but you get the idea.

Now, introducing our NEW web site, going live in the next 7-14 days. 

This time though it isnt just a new look! It’s a complete rebuild of literally every page of the web site – newly coded, on a different platform, and hosted on a newer and faster server. Although we had hacked away at the web site many times, until now, the web site has been sitting on the basic framework developed over two decades ago. In IT terms this was equivelent to being from the Jurassic era! The new platform enables to us to bring in many new features, some of which will be available straight away (for example an “add to wish list” option, which we’ve been asked for many times), and others which will be coming in the not too distant future. You will hopefully notice that the navigation is easier, checkout easier, address book (where you want to send the items) easier, produdct search more responsive, and the user experience much faster than before. All in all, this is the biggest change of the web site, and in fact our entire business model in over 20 years!

You will have to change your password!

Because passwords are confidential, the one and only thing we cannot migrate from the old site to the new site is your password. The reason being that we do not know our customers passwords! Also because our web site was so dated previously you could just have your password as 12345. From now on, like most modern sites your password will have to be a strong password, which is hard to replicate or guess. Please do not create a new account in order to place an order, just follow the instructions to change your password when logging in, and off you go. 

No Black Friday Sale – but we’ll make it up to you soon. 

No, we didn’t do a Black Friday sale this year. there were actually several reasons for this, not least of which was that our focus has been on getting the new web site over the line. It really has been an enormous task, involving countless hours of work, coding, discussion, testing with my develpment team, Tony, Caspar and Siva. I am just a humble natural health therapist, and many of the conversations were over my head as it all got very technical. Although I have not set a date as yet, I plan to make up for the lack of a Black Friday sale by doing some kind of special offer early in the New Year….so stay subscribed to the newsletter, where it will be announced.

We hope to launch the new site next Wednesday, unless there are any unforseen last minute delays and we hope you like it!
