Improving Body Hydration Part II

In this short newsletter I am going to explore a few additional points, not discussed in my previous article on how to hydrate the body at the cellular level, going beyond the obvious step of making sure you’re drinking enough water. As dehydration can be a genuine problem in hot weather it seems like the right moment to go int this a bit further.

MegaHydrate and Crystal Energy

The manufacturers of Crystal Enegy and MegaHydrate state that“Our studies have shown that Crystal Energy helps to increase the flow of water and nutrients across cell membranes 2.54 times faster than ordinary water, increasing the hydration of cells”. MegaHydrate would have similar effects, as its based on the same basic technology, though perhaps not identical.

The image to the left is regarding MegaHydrate, showing an increase in the intra and extracellular percentage of water in the body after two weeks of taking 2 capsules twice per day of MegaHydrate. Looking at it closely, it’s showing an increase from 45% to 48% total water. So a 3% increase. This may not sound like that much, but I do not doubt that this could be physiologically significant. For example blood oxygen levels should be around 95% (or higher). 90% is considered far too low, and 85% is considered to be life threateningly low. So a  10% difference is potentially catastrophic, but even 3% could be pretty important. However the way the chart is presented it looks like the water has been doubled, which would not be true. Although that may be a naughty way of presenting the date, I doubt whether doubling the amount of water inside or outside the cell is actually realistic or desirable, and if this were even possible, presumably people would be full of fluid retentio, look weird, and their body would not function properly.

I don’t have any information on how the testing was carried out in discussing the above. The manufacturers web site just refers to “Significant increases in Hydration at the cellular level as confirmed by laboratory testing” when consuming the products. I know I should have pushed them years ago to provide the studies, not that I would necessarily fully understand it if it’s too sciencey. But as I want to get this newsletter without delay, I am just sharing the information that I do have right now. And what I do know is that customers seem to corroborate the claims made by the manufacturer, which you can view yourselves if you click on “reviews” on the web page.  For example with MegaHydrate: – “I felt really hydrated after taking this product, and it genuinely works. You just have to ensure that you are drinking plenty of water. You can almost feel toxins leaving your body as your energy levels go up. With the sort of food we eat these days plus all these fancy non stick stuff, it is no wonder our bodies are contaminated!”

Since my previous newsletter, a customer contacted me regarding Crystal Energy, which is the sister product of MegaHydrate (and made by the same people), who kindly then wrote a review describing it as “an amazing product which makes water feel “wetter”. I’m not a fan of drinking water actually but I find I drink water with the drops added very quickly. The results are I feel a lot less tired than I used to, and my brain has clarity. I take a flask of water with the drops added to work and it really works. Usually by mid afternoon I’d be craving a coffee, but this water keeps me in much better shape to get through the day.”.

These are anecdotal reports, but there are quite a lot of them, and there is a positive pattern. You can read the others on the web site.

Electrolytes

When people have episodes of diarrhoea, the first thing orthodox doctors are often concerned about is dehydration, and what they recommend to combat that is drinking more water and taking electolytes, lost when we have runny tummies. In hot weather, or when taking a lot of exercise, there is a concern that when we sweat a lot, we lose electrolytes fast, and this contributes to dehydration at the cellular level. This can be addressed with Oxygen Elements Max or Oxylift, both of which contain a full spectrum of electrolytes including 77 trace minerals. Thet have other benefits that go beyond this email relating to their oxygenating effects at the cellular level.

The other alternative are the dedicated electrolyte products from UltraLyte, which are very good value for money if you just want the electrolytes, but don’t have the oxygenating effects. Although you can buy electrolytes in the pharmacy, they are usually full of artificial sweeteners, and don’t contain a full range of trace minerals. The Ultralyte procuts are more “full spectrum” and don’t have any artificial junk in them. In order to keep this short, I will let those who are interested toodle off and view these products for themselves, and then make up their own minds.
